Principles

High-energy ball milling is a mechanical attrition technique frequently used for producing nanocrystalline metals and ceramics in powder form. In this technique, coarse-grained powders undergo disassociation due to the severe cyclic deformation induced by milling with stiff balls in a high-energy shaker mill. The current system comes with dual clamps. Each grinding vial contains a sample and one or more balls. It is then shaken in a complex motion that combines back-and-forth swings, reducing samples to analytical fineness, typically below 100 nm.
