ME Program Mission

The mission of the program is to provide a quality and broad engineering education, to conduct strong basic and applied research, and to serve the industry, the profession, and the community at large through innovative solutions, dissemination of knowledge, and advancement of science and technology.

ME Program Vision

The vision of the program is to gain regional and international recognition for providing a quality engineering education, outstanding research programs, and exceptional community service. In addition, it is envisioned that the graduates of the program will be successful in their professional careers and/or graduate studies, prepared for professional creativity and leadership, and lead productive lives that contribute to the improvement of society.

Educational Objectives

The graduates of the ME program will:

  • engage in productive careers in a broad range of mechanical engineering areas in public and private sectors in Kuwait, or successfully pursue advanced studies and careers in academia or in other research environments
  • advance in responsibility and leadership in their careers, and engage in continuous professional development to respond to rapidly evolving technological and social challenges
  • contribute to the welfare of society and the development of the profession through the responsible practice of engineering and involvement in professional organizations.

Student Outcomes

The ME program graduates will have:

  1. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
  4. an ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
  5. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  6. an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  7. an ability to communicate effectively
  8. the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  9. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
  10. a knowledge of contemporary issues
  11. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

The undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
