Winners of 10th Engineering Competition

Under the patronage of the Acting Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum Prof. Ayed Salman, the competition committee of the 10th Engineering Competition for secondary school students announced the competition’s winners at a closing ceremony. The closing ceremony was held on March 2, 2023, at the College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University and concluded the proceedings of the 10th Engineering Competition entitled “Engineering Creativity for a Better Society, which was conducted with support from the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). 

Prof. Sorour Alotaibi, Acting Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Research & Graduate Studies, represented the Dean of the College at the closing ceremony, which was attended by KFAED representative Mr. Fawaz Aladsani and the students from the winning and qualifying schools, accompanied by their parents and school principals. Competition committee members Dr. Nourah Almashan, Dr. Khalid Alghanim, Dr Saed Abed , Dr. Essam Alruqobah, and Dr. Yousif Nimatallah, also attended the ceremony.

Prof. Sorour Alotaibi delivered an opening speech in which he thanked KFAS for its prominent role in supporting the initiatives of promising youth and the sponsorship that the foundation provides through its monetary prizes for the winners. 

Prof. Alotaibi further thanked KFAED and its representative Mr. Fawaz Aladsani and praised the competition committee members for their sustained yearlong effort to ensure the success of the competition, noting that the 10th Engineering Competition proved to be a success for the College of Engineering and Petroleum.

The winning schools were honored and presented with prizes. The winners are: 

  • First place: Qortoba High School for Girls 
  • Second place: Sabah Al-Ahmad Academy for Giftedness and Creativity
  •  Third Place: Jumana Bint Abi Taleb High School for Girls 

    All schools that qualified as finalists were honored in the ceremony.
