Electro polishing & Etching System
Nanotechnology Research Facility
Equipment
Specifications
- Struers LectroPol-5
- Automatic, microprocessor controlled electrolytic polishing and etching
- Scanning function for easy determination of parameters.
- Built-in safety features.
- Database with methods for various materials.
- Short polishing times and maximum reproducibility.
Principles
The electrolyte is stored in easily exchangeable containers which are inserted into the polishing unit. The sample is placed on the polishing table and electric contact is established through the anode arm, a pre-defined voltage range is scanned by the equipment to determine the current density curve. This curve is used to define the correct voltage for both polishing and etching. Select the suitable method, enter the sample parameters and press OK to start the method.Capabilities
- 10 polishing/etching methods for various materials.
- 20 user-defined methods can also be saved in the database.
- No need of trial runs.
- Can be operated from a PC with PC interface.
Applications
- Most of the metals can be polished /etched.
- External etching.
- Polishing/etching at sub-zero temperature.
- Very good polish in limited time.
- Excellent for Metallographic specimen preparation.
