The office of student affairs in the college of Engineering & Petroleum assumes a leadership role in creating a campus environment that integrates the learning experience which complements the academic curriculum. Whether by walk-in, appointment, or via the Web, our academic advisors and staff are here to assist the undergraduate students in their pursuit of an undergraduate degree.

The Guidance and Counseling office, one of the major divisions of student affairs office encourage students to think of our office as the compass that helps to keep them on the correct path towards their graduation through the following five divisions:

Academic Advising.

  • Educational & Students Affairs.
  • Registration.
  • Student activities and Societies.
  • Technical Support.

Vision

The Office of Student Affairs is committed to be partner with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community in creating a caring and civil environment that stimulate learning and encourage personal envelopment. Will provide a variety of active learning opportunities for students and will strive to maintain a caring, sensitive and supportive environment to promote student developments.

Mission

The Office of Students Affairs is dedicated to student academic success. Academic, personal, social, and professional success require mastery of subject matter, knowledge of self and others, analytic and communication proficiency, and experience with interpersonal relationships.

Goals are achieved by three main divisions:

  • Guidance & Counseling Office.
  • Current & Future Projects.
  • Services to Faculty Members..

The Central focus and primary purpose of these divisions are:

  • Admission Exhibit is held every year for two weeks. High school students from science division visits the fair arranged through the Ministry of Education. During the fair, students come to know the admission policies & procedures, aptitude test requirements, and engineering departments nature etc. The students visit the college facilities and meet with the faculty members.
  • Assisting in the development of a pool of qualified engineering students and providing appropriate advisement, encouragement, and services necessary for them in their major assignment.
  • Providing current undergraduate students with effective services, programs, and resources that facilitate the successful and timely completion of their graduation requirements, and enable the development of skills and opportunities necessary for future success.
  • Providing a support structure for the faculties by giving class lists, Students absence warnings, postponing final exams, posting of I-grades, room reservations, GPA & MPA calculations, and various statistical & analytical reports.
  • The office together with individual departments is in charge of student organizations. There are nine student organizations: ES, IEEE, ACM, ASCE, ASME, ASHRAE, ChESS, SPE and SIE.
