Scholarship Unit | VD Academic Affairs
The Scholarships Unit of the Office of the Vice Dean for Academic, Graduate Studies and Research deals with the departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum on the one hand and with the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, which is affiliated with the Office of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs on the other.
Tasks
The tasks of the unit are as follows:
- Provide the scientific departments with lists of the latest international university rankings, according to the approved databases, for accreditation for scholarship purposes and appointments of the academic staff and supporting academic staff.
- Approve the needs of the various scientific departments each year, and the conditions to be met by applicants for the annual announcement of the scholarships of the College, after their approval by the committees of the scholarships of the scientific departments and the Committee of the Scholarships of the College.
- Receive the files of applicants from the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations and transfer them to the scientific departments to select the optimal candidates from among the applicants, after the official announcement of the Scholarships is posted and the application window closes.
- The College Scholarships Committee, represented by the Dean of the College of Engineering and Petroleum, the Vice Dean for Academic, Graduate Studies and Research, and the members of the College Scholarships Committee (heads of scientific departments), interviews accepted candidates for the post of Scholarships and those who have been nominated from the scientific departments and approves their admission.
- Transfer the files of accepted candidates to the Office of the Vice President for Scientific Affairs for the necessary follow-up.
- Follow up on the progress of the scholarship students, their scientific achievement, and their academic needs (extension, suspension, or academic admission and the subjects of master's and doctoral theses) by transferring the books of the scholarships received from the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations to the various departments of the college, and vice versa, to take the necessary action on them.
- Approve the new requirements approved by the College Scholarships Committee and notify the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations of the decisions taken so that the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the University communicates with the scholarship recipients (through the Cultural Office of the State of Kuwait in the country of the scholarship) and informs him of the latest requirements, decisions, and recommendations.
- This communication process continues from the beginning of the mission until its completion until all the graduation requirements are met and the certificate is obtained when the scholarship student file is closed with the issuance of the decision to practice work signed by the Dean of the College and the Director of the Department of Faculty Affairs.
